One man band - I am proudly a one-man band, I enjoy the variety of doing a number of tasks. Starting from an idea, delivering a site then helping an organisation learn to exploit it fully is my idea of a great thing to do. For the types of clients I mostly work with the value for money they can get out of me is vastly superior to using an agency.
See the HALCyon case study for an example of a complete end-to-end project)
Still plays well with others - However I recognise that organisations have multiple needs so I can draw on many years of experience in web agencies and web teams to fulfill a more specific brief when needed.
See The Sanger case study for an example of working inside an extended team
Active, useful sites - As well as enjoying the nuts and bolts of building and designing web sites I love to help organisations use their sites as active tools of their trade rather than just brochure sites.
See my site for SPANA which has a fundraising brief
Useful pricing - I would rather charge less and deliver a great site than think about long holidays on agency fees. My day rates are cheap enough that we can build a great site together without having to spend a fortune. Having worked in agencies I know how they charge - I have the skills but not the overheads...
